FC Dallas earned its first point of the 2009 season this Saturday with a 1-1 tie in Toronto. Toronto FC took the lead in the 17th minute of play when former FCD player Adrian Serioux delivered one of his classically long throw-ins into the box. Dwayne De Rosario outjumped defender Drew Moor to head the ball past goalkeeper Ray Burse.
The score would remain at 1-0 for most of the game, but FCD was able to pull itself out of the deficit in the 88th minute. Eric Avila chased down a corner kick that was served too long, and returned the ball to the center of the goal mouth. FCD midfielder Pablo Ricchetti backheeled the ball, redirecting it into the net. The goal is up for goal of the week, with voting taking place now.
