Richland College to present Diaspora: Discovery, Perception, and Participation

Richland College presents Diaspora: Discovery, Perception & Participation, a celebration of culture and ethnicity in the United States. The five-day series of free events is April 20-24.
The events of Diaspora, hosted by Richland's Ethnic Studies Programs, are listed below.
April 20
"Discovery -- Discover new opportunities to engage our diverse communities" - Student Panel Discussion from 10:15-11 a.m.; Faculty Panel Discussion from 2-3:30 p.m. Brazos Gallery (Room C140 of Crockett Hall)
April 21
"Perception -- How ethnicity and identity are perceived and created in the U.S." - Keynote Speaker: Author Stephanie Elizondo Griest. 9:30-10:50 a.m. in Fannin Performance Hall.
Panel discussion on gays and lesbians within Asian, Black and Latino communities. 2-3:30 p.m. in Brazos Gallery (Room C140 of Crockett Hall).
April 22
"Celebration -- Celebrating all cultures" - Richland College's Intercultural Festival. 11 a.m.-3 p.m., outdoors by the lake.
April 23
"Participation -- Becoming active in advancing the rights and needs of ethnic communities in the U.S." - Keynote Speaker: Anne Marie Weiss-Armush of DFW International Community Alliance. 9:30-10:50 a.m. in Room N210 of Neches Hall.
Community Leadership Panel Discussion - 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in Room S103 of Sabine Hall
Film Screening: Crash - 2-4 p.m. in Room D174 of Del Rio Hall
April 24
"Wholeness -- A demonstration of mind- body renewal from diverse traditions" - Expressions of wholeness including Yoga, Tai Chi, Aztec and praise dance. 9:30-11:30 a.m., outdoors by the lake.
