DALLAS The City of Dallas is pleased to announce the start-up of the planning process for a feasibility study and master plan for an Asian American Cultural Center. This plan is one of the projects funded through the 2006 Bond Program. The project includes four components: preparing a needs assessment; defining a building program; developing site criteria; and assisting in the development of financial strategies for the project.
To invite broad community involvement in the master planning process, a series of open town hall meetings and workshops will allow Dallas citizens to learn about the project and to share their thoughts about current and future cultural and community needs. Citizens are encouraged to visit the Office of Cultural Affairs' Web site for project information, upcoming meeting dates, or to participate in an online survey. A steering committee of community leaders will meet periodically to represent the greater community while reviewing project data and advising the project team.
At the end of each phase of the master planning effort, results will be brought back to the community and to the steering committee for review. A final report is expected to be completed in late 2009.
Master planning for the proposed Center is a joint effort under the stewardship of the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Public Works & Transportation Department. The City of Dallas has engaged the architectural firm HOK to conduct the study and master planning process with support from consultant team Sustainable Places, Sustainable Organizations.

I’m not becoming emotionally invested until they are at least semi-sure they somewhat intend to begin something maybe sometime.

::something maybe sometime.
It's a "fear of rejection" thing, isn't it?

Hey - she said you could play if you'd stop indiscriminately licking stuff.
I think that's a fair lower limit for a respectable SWG

This thread is either clear evidence of either how much Dallas needs this or what a completely terrible idea this is.

On a sober note, this ideal is 10 years off, while the Art's District has one, then again....over the past 20 years, folks have ignored the history of the Chinese and other Asian Immigrants who came here in the 19th Century....My comment, if you want Dallas to become World International, what is wrong with a cultural historical prespective that is also native...A/T, ...Asian is really San Francisco..
