Among the more than 3,000 events on Pegasus News this week, here are some of the standouts for folks interested in having better homes and gardens:

Saturday and Sunday, the Heard Natural Science Museum offers its annual opportunity to purchase hard-to-find herbs, native and well-adapted plants. This year they've also added heirloom plants to the mix. (There is a members-only preview on Friday from 4-7 PM.) The eleven-page(!) plant list can be found here.

Log Cabin Village

Doing chores is more fun when you're doing them away from home!

Fort Worth's Log Cabin Village offers the opportunity to help with their Spring planting on Saturday. (It's an educational experience, not slave labor -- we swear!)

Learn what local chefs and growers are thinking at the 2nd Annual Chef's Roundtable on Saturday at the Dallas Farmers Market. On the panel will be top chefs Graham Dodd (Bolsa), Jeffery Hobbs (Suze), David Uygur (Lola), Scott Gottlich (Bijoux) and Liz Baron (Blue Mesa). Representing the voice of the local growers are Rocky Tassioni of Tassione Farms (Stephenville, Texas), Connie Veldhuizen of Veldhuizen Farms (Dublin, Texas), Doug Robbins of My Rancher (Greenville, Texas), J.T. Lemley (Canton, Texas), and cheese maker Deborah Rogers of Deborah's Farmstead (Fort Worth, Texas).

Ed Begley, Jr, wants your lawnmower NOW.

While not everyone is happy about it, The City of Plano will be putting on its Live Green Expo on Saturday, featuring Ed Begley, Jr. and a lot of eco-friendly home and garden products. There is also an opportunity to turn in your old gas mower for a voucher to help in the purpose of an electric or manual mower.

On Earth Day itself, both branches of the Marshall Grain Co. will be hosting a celebration focused on organic gardening.
