Kids and family events in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, April 15-21
It's tax day, so either you're out a bunch of money or you suddenly have cash burning in your pocket. We've got you covered either way with kids and family events for all price ranges. On tap this week are a parenting seminar, a couple of Earth Day celebrations, a festival in Flower Mound, and a Dallas Zoo festival.
On Thursday, April 16, you can spend A Day of Love and Logic with Jim Fay at the Plano Centre. Parenting guru Jim Fay is focusing this seminar on how to get kids to succeed in school.
Dallas will celebrate Earth Day early with Earthfest 2009 at Pegasus Plaza on Friday, April 17. Attendees will get a chance to learn about environmentally friendly gardening, sustainable building, recycling of electronics, earth-friendly products for the home, high efficiency/low impact transportation options, and much more.
Also starting on Friday is the Wild about Flower Mound Festival, a two-day festival taking place at Bakersfield Park. In addition to the arts & crafts vendors, environmental fair and a large children's area with bounce houses, games, pony rides and a petting zoo, Friday will feature a performance by Emerald City. Saturday's festival will feature the disco band Le Freak and the Killdares.
Saturday, April 18 is the beginning of Dallas Roars! at the Dallas Zoo. Continuing every Saturday and Sunday through May 10, the event kicks off with the grand opening of Ghosts from the Bayou, a swamp habitat in the Pierre A. Fontaine Bird & Reptile Building, which features albino and standard American alligators as well as other creatures from the swamp.
Finally, if you want to celebrate Earth Day early in Fort Worth, you can head out to Earth Day Family Funday at the Amon Carter Museum. As promised, it will have fun-filled activities, but it will also let kids and families discover how American artists have used their art to advocate for the earth.

Love and logic. The quintessential oxymoron.
