Attempted abduction in Garland might have been an attempted burglary instead
Garland police speculate that the woman who almost had her 15-month-old son snatched from her arms back in March may not have been the victim of an attempted kidnapping after all.
Instead, they are theorizing that a man saw the open door of the residence (in the 1800 block of South Third St.) and figured it might be an opportunity to rush in, snatch up some lucre and make a quick getaway. But he was surprised (the theory goes) by the woman and her child, and simply reacted by - um - trying to grab the kid. (Who ended up with scratches on his face and back.)
The assailant is still at large.
