FC Dallas 3, Toronto FC 2

FCD vs. TFC postgame interviews (4-19-09)

On star forward Kenny Cooper's two goals, FC Dallas finally breaks into the win column for the first time in the 2009 MLS season. Sitting at 1-3-1 so far, all four of the Hoops goals have come against Toronto FC, with whom they split road and home games for their last two matches.

FC Dallas found the net first, when defender Drew Moor headed home a free kick from the left side taken by midfielder Dax McCarty. 20 minutes later, Cooper extended Dallas' lead. Toronto's Dwayne De Rosario flubbed a throw received from his keeper, losing the ball to FCD's David Ferreira, who found Cooper running up the middle, ending in a blast to the far side netting.

But the two-goal cushion would start to disappear right before the half, as Toronto scored in stoppage time off a goal from former FCD defender Adrian Serioux. The Reds then brought the game even in the 59th minute with Chad Barrett's goal.

FC Dallas got their game-winner late in the 84th minute when Marvell Wynne was called for a handball in Toronto's box. With Cooper's penalty kick goal, FC Dallas was able to win one for the home crowd.

Defensively, we’re still victims of little mistakes, which I think will just take time to get better, but I think all-in-all that the players were very inspired to get a win. We felt that we should have more than one point in these last few games, and the players were very focused this week in training, I think it was very upbeat. I thought they did a good job on the field, and I’m pleased with the outcome, obviously.”
