Minor league baseball may be coming to Dallas

6

A group that includes a Dallas real estate developer and others has purchased a 60-acre property along Industrial Boulevard in Dallas that they plan to turn into a mixed-use project that will include a minor league ballpark. And they ain't kidding, as they're hoping to have the ballpark open by 2010 (yep, next year).

Other aspects of the project would be apartments, retail shops, restaurants, a water park, and (surprise!) a hotel. The team that would use the park would come from the independent United Baseball League, a league that was purchased by Reunion Sports Group, which is helping to develop the project.

James Scott says:

they don't have any plans for the reunion site yet, do they? accessible by train too, which for me would be the only way I would take the time to get there. not sure if the proposed site would be very easy to get to.

Since this proposal isn't in the downtown area, I hope the city doesn't give any abatements or other incentive/concessions to this developer
