Dallas Mavericks 88, San Antonio Spurs 67 (Playoffs)
A couple of record lows were set on Thursday night in Dallas, as the Dallas Mavericks handily embarrassed in-state rival, the San Antonio Spurs. At just 67 points, the tally was the lowest that the Spurs have ever scored in a playoff game and the lowest points the Mavs have ever allowed in a playoff game. By the middle of the third quarter, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich took out his starters and never returned them to the court, to rest his players for what he hopes will be a resurgence on Saturday. Mavs coach Rick Carlisle also rested some of his starters, including Dirk Nowitzki, by the time his side reached a 30-point lead.
Nowitzki scored 20 points in just over 26 minutes of play, while J.J. Barea started the game and added 13 of his own to the tally. Josh Howard scored 17, while Jason Terry and Brandon Bass each took 10.
The Spurs' top performer was 11th man Fabricio Oberto, who went 3-for-5 for 10 points. Wait, who? Exactly.
The teams return to action on Saturday, April 25 in Dallas.
