Loop 12 exit to SH 183 in Irving to close this weekend

IRVING — The exit ramp from southbound Loop 12 (LP 12) to westbound State Highway 183 (SH 183) will begin (... begin what? Press release has word missing and person who sent it is "at a banquet". Which, hmm, it's only 10:45 a.m. and TxDOT is banqueting already, wow.) at 9 p.m. Friday, April 24 through 6 a.m. Monday, April 27 for removal and replacement of the ramp and shoulder.

This is a small maintenance project that will replace deteriorating concrete pavement at that location, facilitating future construction on the interchanges around the old Texas Stadium site.

Message boards have been placed notifying motorists of the detour and detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the exit. Irving Police will be on hand to direct motorists through the detour.

The first of these “Diamond Interchange” projects will build a new interchange and approaches at SH 114 and LP 12. That project was awarded to the Zachry/Sinocola Consortium for $224 Million. It is expected to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2012.
