Dallas and DFW International Community Alliance present The Taste of Africa on Saturday May 9
DALLAS The City of Dallas' Office of International Business and Protocol Services in collaboration with DFW International Community Alliance will present The Taste of Africa at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at the African American Museum, 3536 Grand Ave. African Ambassadors to the United States, other African dignitaries, U.S. Trade Department Representative Connie Hamilton, and ambassadors from South Africa, Guinea, Sudan, Morocco, Congo, Gabon, and Eritrea are among dignitaries expected to attend.
"The City of Dallas is honored to welcome so many African Ambassadors and other dignitaries, and we are proud to be trailblazers for a gathering such as this," said City of Dallas Assistant Director of International Business & Protocol Services George Chee. "We believe this will strengthen the relationship between the City and the local African community, and will be the beginning of collaborative partnerships with African nations for trade that will benefit Dallas based companies and emerging nations as well."
Tickets for the Taste of Africa are $50, and may be purchased online or by calling (972) 661-2764. The event will include a reception and African cuisine from five of the best local African restaurants. The African Business Leadership and African Student Leadership awards will also be presented.
This gala/networking event is a unique opportunity to meet with Dallas' civic and business leaders, elected officials and business leaders in the African community. The goal of this weekend is to build collaborative relationships between the newly formed African Business Council and the City of Dallas that promote international trade between Dallas and Africa.
The Taste of Africa is part of the African Unity Festival that explores African culture through music, sports, film and food. The African Unity Festival is sponsored by the City of Dallas' Office of International Business & Protocol Services, City of Dallas' Office of Cultural Affairs, Western Union, Sam's Foundation, and 1360 AM KMNY, with additional support from SMU's Meadows School of the Arts and the Dallas Public Library.
