McKinney ISD officer suspended for possible inappropriate relationship with student

2

On Monday, April 20, an alleged incident of an inappropriate relationship between a School Resource Officer and a 17-year-old McKinney Boyd High School female student was brought to the District’s attention. District officials followed procedures and immediately notified the McKinney Police Department. The McKinney Police Department immediately placed the McKinney police officer on administrative leave, and initiated an investigation. All of the officer’s responsibilities have been suspended at this time, pending police investigation. The school district will continue to cooperate with the appropriate agencies as they investigate the alleged incident. In addition, a McKinney Boyd High School staff member was placed on leave, pending an investigation, for not reporting knowledge of the incident. During the investigation the staff member resigned from McKinney ISD.

The investigations are in their early stages and, therefore, no further information regarding the identity of the persons involved will be released at this time. However, it is imperative that McKinney ISD parents be aware that the District and the McKinney Police Department will not tolerate inappropriate relationships between students and staff and responsible parties will be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows.
