McKinney ISD high school bands receive excellent ratings at UIL


Bands from all three high schools in the district received at least one 1st Division (Superior Performance) rating in either Concert or Sight-Reading.

High school bands in McKinney ISD recently received the highest rating possible in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region 25 Band Concert and Sight-Reading contests. Bands from all three high schools in the district received at least one 1st Division (Superior Performance) rating in either Concert or Sight-Reading.

McKinney Boyd High School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in Concert and a 2nd Division Rating in Sight-Reading. The school’s Non-Varsity Band received a 2nd Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division Rating in Sight-Reading. The school also has a Sub Non-Varsity Band which earned a 1st Division Rating in Concert and a 3rd Division Rating in Sight-Reading.

The McKinney Boyd Varsity Band is under the direction of Joe Nunez, and the school’s Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Rylon Guidry. Chris Brannan and Jason Meyers direct the Sub Non-Varsity Band.

McKinney High School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division Rating in Sight-Reading. The school’s Non-Varsity Band also earned a 1st Division in both Concert and Sight-Reading. McKinney High School’s Varsity Band is under the direction of Ken Ringel, and the Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Marcus Hunley. Austin Chappell assists with both bands.

McKinney North High School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in both Concert and Sight-Reading. The McKinney North High School Varsity Band is under the direction of Alan Harkey. Josh Kurzweil and Mike Myers assist with the band.
