McKinney ISD middle school bands earn top ratings at UIL
Middle school bands from McKinney ISD recently received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Division Ratings in University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region 25 Band Concert and Sight-Reading contests. The middle school varsity and non-varsity band contests were held at Wylie East High School on April 15-17.
Cockrill Middle School’s bands competed in their first ever UIL band contest. The school’s Non-Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating (Superior Performance) in both Concert and Sight-Reading, and the school’s Sub Non-Varsity Band received a 3rd Division Rating in Concert and a 2nd Division Rating (Excellent Performance) in Sight-Reading. The Cockrill Middle School Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Gary Williams, and the school’s Sub Non-Varsity Band is directed by Matt Harp.
Dowell Middle School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in both Concert and Sight-Reading, and the school’s Non-Varsity Band also received a 1st Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division rating in Sight-Reading. The Dowell Middle School Varsity Band is under the direction of Clark Eacher, and the school’s Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Kathleen Moy.
Evans Middle School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in both Concert and Sight-Reading, and the school’s Non-Varsity Band received a 2nd Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division Rating in Sight-Reading. Evans Middle School’s Varsity Band is under the direction of Lisa Smith Winningham, and the Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of James Rees.
Faubion Middle School’s Varsity Band received a 1st Division Rating in both Concert and Sight-Reading, and the school’s Non-Varsity Band received a 2nd Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division Rating Sight-Reading. Faubion Middle School’s Varsity Band is under the direction of Bryan Wright, and the Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Britt Williams.
Scott Johnson Middle School’s Non-Varsity Band received a 2nd Division Rating in Concert and a 1st Division Rating in Sight-Reading. Scott Johnson Middle School’s Non-Varsity Band is under the direction of Paul Stevens and Carlos Chipps.
