Glenn Heights park opening draws residents, local dignitaries
Courtney Lane Park opened on April 25; here's a couple of photos from the event.
Courtney Lane Park officially opened April 25, 2009 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Local residents and children celebrated by playing on the new playground equipment and eating cupcakes.
Dante Veneziale, Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Board welcomed the community and expressed sincere appreciation for the completion of the new park. A plaque was presented to
Tony Martin for donating the property for the neighborhood park. Carl Whitehead, Chairman of Keep Glenn Heights Beautiful delivered a message about Arbor Day and its meaning and dedicated a Texas Ash tree to commemorate the occasion.
Other dignitaries present were Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Dixon, Councilmember Mary Ann Chancellor, Councilmember Dan Freeman, Councilmember Victor Pereira, Tammy Garr with the Planning & Zoning Commission, and the following Park & Recreation Board members: Dawn Freeman (Vice
Chairman), Carl Whitehead, Lacy McKinney, Thomas Calhoun, James Blackburn, and Chris Robbins. City Manager Jacqueline L. Lee joined in the festivities and presented the City Council members with custom ordered shirts for the occasion.
