Officials shut down 5K run on Lewisville Lake toll bridge on Saturday
LEWISVILLE Saturday's big 5K run marketing the grand opening of the Lewisville Lake toll bridge, planned since May, ended up getting shut down due to fear of bad weather and lightning, which had some runners grumbling.
About 3,000 to 4,000 people showed up but only about 500 runners made it through. A lot of people drove from around the DFW area and those who were shut out did not get their fee reimbursed.

Shelby Skrhak says:
That's a shame! It really was an interesting marketing idea to walk the bridge before it opened. Even intriguing to me--a FatHeadDog that does not run unless being chased by a robber with a weapon. And that's only happened like twice. This month.
