Because the first day of school is less than a month away, Dallas County Health and Human Services is offering parents an extra opportunity to bring their children into the immunization clinic for their shots.

The immunization clinic, located in the DCHHS building on the first floor, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 8. During the week, the clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday–Friday. On Wednesdays, the clinic closes at 6 p.m.

Parents should bring their children’s vaccination records. Appointments aren’t necessary. The cost is $10 for the child’s first visit and $5 for returning patients, however, no child will be denied services. Call 214-819-2163 for more information.

For the last five years, DCHHS has partnered with Immunize for Healthy Lives, an immunization education and awareness campaign created by Ronald McDonald House Charities in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

As part of the campaign, which will run during the month of August, informational tray liners will be made available to parents through more than 270 McDonald’s restaurant locations in the area.

The tray liners will promote each of the seven health partners’ back-to-school immunization schedule and provide contact information for the local healthcare partners.

Other than the McDonald’s restaurants, additional local campaign partners include: Collin, Denton and Tarrant county health departments, Immunize Kids Dallas Area Partnership, Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County, and Denton County Immunization Coalition.
