Upcoming Denton concerts - August 6-8, 2009
The Roomsounds, Stars Go Dim & American Mantra -- Thursday, Aug 6 at The Boiler Room
Easily the most intriguing lineup of the weekend. The Boiler Room hosts a trio of bands who range from post punk to the highest order of contemporary pop rock. The Roomsounds, from all that we have heard from them, have come close to mastering the art of that perfectly marketable sound. Catchy, upbeat and very tough to pause.
Stars Go Dim is a band who has had one of the best starts to a career you could ask for. Seemingly for very good reason. Have a little taste with the video below. And American Mantra ... well, the second video speaks for itself. Once you watch it, I bet you'll want to hang out with them for a night.
Sleep Whale -- Friday August 7 at Hailey's
The incredibly peaceful and outstandingly addictive sounds of Denton's own Sleep Whale will once again fill Hailey's Club this Friday night. If you are looking for a night of music that covers the full range of emotions, Sleep Whale is for you. The absolute perfect show for a first date or just a laidback night on The Square.
Enjoy the soothing and often surreal Sleep Whale:
The Heelers -- Saturday, August 8 at Dan's Silverleaf
One of my all-time favorite Denton bands, and surely one of yours, too. I mean, what could I say about The Heelers that has not already been said a thousand times? I'll try to sum them up in just a few phrases. Kick Ass, Texas, Whiskey, Rock & Roll ... any questions?
Here is a rough video of them covering the the almighty Slobberbone:
