Former Ramada Inn Plaza Hotel in Dallas offering free rooms
The owners of the former Ramada Inn Plaza Hotel just south of downtown Dallas are offering free rent to people willing to live in the hotel while it awaits renovation next year. The owners -- Hamilton Properties -- put up the deal on Craigslist in order to make sure the property doesn't sit vacant during the interim period.
Drawbacks include no air conditioning in the hallways, and the prospect of all work and no play making Jack a dull boy.

Good luck with Craigslist.org, it is so full of scams and negative or false jobs being offered, I used to like it, but now it seems almost 50% of items or jobs being posted are just plain scams. Most times on the jobs section, you click and reply, hoping for an interview, only to find yourself answering lengthy surveys and accepting offers for various promotional items, most of which have NOTHING to do with the job you are seeking! It, like many good things on the internet, have become abused and ruined by other folks. Free rooms, at this hotel, I think there must be a catch,.....or just plain trouble.

Actually, I am one of the folks living here and it is not what you would think. Yes, the halls are a little warm but we are learning how to control that with a little creativity: cross breeze.
Peter, the reason this offer was made was because as it sat empty, it did start filling with folks who wanted more than a roof over their heads. They wanted the wiring, firepipes, brass handrails and so on. A lot of damage was caused when the first flooded as a result of these fine folks removing sprinkler pipes.
In order to protect his investment, Mr. Hamilton made his offer: in return for keeping an eye on the place, and the doors locked, you can live there for free. We all had background checks and were given keys.
I have made my rooms my own by removing the carpet (materials will be demo'd when we leave, so it is OK) and painting it in the style of Jackson Pollock. Everyone keeps an eye on each other and reports any problems with the building. It is unusual, but I am thankful for the opportunity. AND one of the best views of Dallas!

I agree Travis even Russ has made some observation on the 2009 Echo Travler from the side effects of the New York Octapus....while rooms may not be great, it is not a tent city yet...next week we will know, when City of Dallas begin's the chopping block...and employees heads will roll....A/T, Need a room, how do you get the rent...
