Queer LiberAction to hold Queer Kiss-In in downtown Dallas
On August 15, 2009 at The Rosa Parks Plaza on Lamar and Elm in downtown Dallas, Queer LiberAction is set to hold a Queer Kiss-in. Beginning at 1 p.m., this event is being organized as part of “The Great Nationwide Kiss-in” with similar events taking place at the same time across the country.
DART riders and other passersby should expect to see rainbow flags, pro-Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Transgender (GLBT) signs and of course men kissing men and women kissing women. A Queer Kissing Booth, free “Queer Hugs,” and Queer Kiss-in games are all planned aspects of this fun event intended to get people to think about how GLBT people are treated differently.
“In 2009, GLBT people have every right to display our affections publically just as everyone else does. With GLBT people being harassed recently in Fort Worth, El Paso, and Salt Lake City it is of the utmost importance now to respectfully but without falter affirm who we are. We are holding the Queer Kiss-in at the Rosa Parks Plaza to illustrate how GLBT people are treated as second class citizens,” says Blake Wilkinson, founder of Queer LiberAction.
The event is designed to be visually interesting and fun while carrying a serious message. The message of the event will be that GLBT people should be able to express their affections in public without the fear of looks, intimidation or violence. Recent events in San Antonio, El Paso, Fort Worth, and Salt Lake City remind GLBT people of the importance of openly affirming our civil rights in public.
Queer LiberAction organized a Queer Kiss-in in February as part of National Freedom to Marry Day. The Queer Kiss-in will last an hour and a half.

Wow, sounds exciting, why way down there at the Rosa Parks Plaza? Might cause tension at the big bus stops down there! Sounds wild though. I guess Rosa will be just sitting and watching it all on her bench!
