— The first “Labor Day at Legacy” festival will take place on Sunday, September 6 to celebrate the new North Phase II addition to the Shops at Legacy complex in Plano.

The event is from noon - 8 p.m. and will feature musical performers, entertainment for the kids, food and drinks, and a look at the new retail stores along a walk through the north side of the shopping complex. The festival will also feature all-around Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, who will be on hand from 1 - 3 p.m. to sign autographs and talk about her award-winning gymnastic career. Fans can then meet Dallas Cowboy Jay Ratliff from 4 - 6 p.m.

The North Phase II features a Bellagio-inspired fountain. It's smaller than the one in Vegas, but we can pretend.

The first time event will introduce 14 new retail shops and restaurants in North Phase II to the public including a look at the Bellagio-inspired fountain. Several live bands will perform, including the Ice House Band as headliner, as well as Paul Harrington, AQuZ, Inner City All-Stars, and the popular PiT PoPs.

Kids can enjoy Pop Noggins (dancing heads), a face painter, strolling balloon artist, caricature artist, and wax hands. Adults can participate in a special wine tasting during the afternoon.

Proceeds from ticket sales for all activities will be donated to Children’s Medical Center. In addition, Legacy Books will conduct a Children’s Health Fair from 12 - 8 p.m., with a registered nurse in the store to answer kids health-related questions and give out literature. The store will also conduct a kids cooking demo, secrets of cooking Mexican salsa and for parents, and a Tequila tasting at 5 p.m.
