Mothers Anthem -- Thursday, Aug. 13 at The Boiler Room

Dark pop punk rock music at its gloriously glamoured finest. Mothers Anthem is headlining at The Boiler Room this Thursday along with The Backsliders, Life in Jersey, and My Solstice.

Should be a pretty entertaining show and once you get passed the excessive amounts of hairspray and eyeliner, Mothers Anthem is pretty decent tunes. I expect a pretty good turnout for this one.

We credit the fine folks at Copasetic Ballyhoo for this peek at the band.

Disco:Hate -- Friday, Aug 14 at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio

Disco:Hate will be celebrating the release of their new album Meet Me In The Bathroom at Rubber Gloves Friday night. A spinoff from one of my all-time favorite local bands, Mount Righteous, Disco:Hate brings a more rock-influenced sound and pace to the acoustic instruments they play.

We have a taste of what their CD will sound like on their MySpace Page with their title track, "Meet Me In The Bathroom." If you want to hear the rest of the album, check out the show on Saturday and maybe even buy the thing!

Fishboy -- Saturday Aug 15 at Hailey's

Fishboy, one of the most tenured acts in Denton is headlining this VERY interesting show at Hailey's Club on Saturday night. If you have not seen Fishboy, I highly recommend this show. It is going to be pretty exciting to see this band perform on a stage the size of Hailey's.

Also playing that night is the VERY VERY intriguing band from Seattle, WA called Iji (pronounced "eehee") who are sure to raise a few eyebrows with their off beat take on indie music.

Cali band Watercolor Paintings will be playing, too. Think a happier and more bubbly Moldy Peaches.
