Kitchen Dog Theater to start 19th season with Southwest premiere of Vigils

Kitchen Dog Theater kicks off its 19th season with the Southwest premiere of Vigils by Noah Haidle, author of KDT 2007 hit Mr. Marmalade. Two years after a fireman died trying to save a baby from a burning home, his widow clinging to the past - literally. She has trapped her husband's soul in a box, and his body is wandering around aimlessly, ricocheting from one memory to the next, as body and soul try to come to terms with their actions during his life. When a handsome wooer arrives on the scene, the widow must decide between the past she knows and a future that she can only imagine.

The production will be directed by KDT Artistic Company Aaron Ginsburg and will feature an outstanding ensemble of KDT Co-Artistic Director Tina Parker (Widow), Matthew Gray (Body), Jim Kuenzer (Wooer), and Ira Steck (Soul). The production team will feature KDT Artistic Company Members Laura McMeley (Light Design), Christina Dickson (Costume Design), John M. Flores (Sound Design), Judy Niven and Jen Gilson-Gilliam (Prop Design),and Michael Wang and Abby Kraemer (Technical Direction) as well as award-winning designer Craig Siebels (Set Design), who currently is the production designer of the hit show Burn Notice on the USA Network. KDT Artistic Company Member Ruth Stephenson will serve as production stage manager.

Vigils opens on Friday, September 11 and runs through Saturday, October 10 in the Black Box Theater at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary (The MAC) in Uptown. Ticket prices range from $30 for all opening night tickets, $15 - $25 for adults and $15 - $20 for MAC, STAGE, KERA, DART, ARTSCARD, TCG members, students and senior citizens/65+(all with proper ID). Special group rates are also available. All tickets are general admission seating.

Performances are Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8PM, with additional performances on Wednesday at 8pm (September 23 and October 7) and Sunday matinees at 2pm (September 20 and October 4). "Talk-Backs" with the actors and director follow the Sunday matinee performances. Pay-What-You-Can specials (available to the first 25 patrons) are on Wednesdays (September 23 and October 7) and Thursdays (September 17 and 24 and October 1 and 8).
