Chesapeake Energy admits North Texas earthquakes may, in fact, have been caused by gas well drilling
Holy smoking (and shaking) gun, Batdude.
Chesapeake Energy, the company behind a bunch of gas wells drilled through the Barnett Shale across North Texas, is shutting down a pair of wells drilled near known geological faults after University of Texas researchers announced a possible link between the drilling and recent earthquakes that have occurred in the vicinity.
The wells in question (both of which were drilled near the south end of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport) are of the disposal variety, used to get rid of salt water which emerges as a by-product of natural gas production.

Don't you know that was a comfort to everyone living in the surrounding area...
"Yes, feeling as if your house/business is falling off of it's foundation - and the inevitable depreciated value due to damages probably not covered by your insurance - that was not really a natural disaster...we just didn't think that far ahead...Oopsy...sorry,guys."
