Republic also agreed to staff every flight with guitar-playing stewardesses. (Not really.)
Citing the best interest of its cockpit employees, who are currently in labor discussions involving pilot seniority, Southwest Airlines has dropped its bid to take over bankrupt Frontier Airlines, leaving the field open for rival bidder Republic Airways to take over the financially strapped Denver-based air carrier.
Aside from the stipulation involving settlement of Southwest's labor dispute, Republic made their bid more attractive to the bankruptcy court by agreeing to waive recovery of the $150 million debt owed them by Frontier.
