DART gets big fed bucks to push ahead with Green Line construction
Exactly $78.4 million in federal stimulus money is going to Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) sooner than expected (like, NOW), for their use in completing the Green Line, which -- when built out -- will run from Carrollton-Farmers Branch to Pleasant Grove.
This big cash advance (on funds already allotted to DART expansion by the Federal Transit Administration) will ensure that part of the Green Line is completed in time for the State Fair of Texas this Fall.
These fed funds come right on the heels of $61 million funneled into construction of the Orange Line, which will connect the transit system to the north end of DFW Airport.
