City of Arlington schedules town hall budget meetings
The City of Arlington is conducting a series of town hall meetings to bring the citizenry into the conversation regarding its proposed 2010 operating budget, which can be accessed here.
The first line of the document reads: "The FY 2010 Proposed Budget is presented at a time of unprecedented financial uncertainty." Which might be a hint that some tough decisions must perforce be made in regard to balancing the need for city services against the necessity of balancing the books. (Unlike The Fed, the City of Arlington can't just create more money out of the aether.)
On Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m., District 3 City Council member Robert Rivera will join At-Large City Council member Robert Shepard at the Bob Duncan Center (2800 S. Center St.) to host the next budget-themed town hall get-together.
On Aug. 31 at 6:30, there'll be a joint mayoral/city council town hall budget talk at City Hall (101 W. Abram St.)
If special accommodations are needed, or if you have other questions about the meetings, contact the Office of the Mayor and Council at 817-459-6122 -- and note that Arlington City Council work sessions are broadcast live on the city's government channel 16 (on Time Warner Cable), and are also webcast here.
