Y.E. Yang’s upset of Tiger Woods drives Sunday Dallas/Fort Worth ratings

Local Nielsen ratings snapshot (Fri.-Sun., Aug. 14-16)

Y.E. Yang's humbling of Tiger Woods in Sunday's final PGA round gave CBS a ratings birdie.

This season's last of the majors averaged 234,000 D-FW viewers, a big bounce from the 126,217 tuned to Saturday's third-round coverage on CBS. Other programming ratings for Sunday weren't immediately available.

In Friday's local news derby, NBC5 had twin wins at 10 p.m., topping the field in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, the main advertiser target audience for news programming.

The Peacock and Fox4 tied in total viewers at 6 a.m., with NBC5 having the gold to itself among 25-to-54-year-olds.

Fox4 entered the winner's circle with twin wins at 5 p.m. The 6 p.m. total viewer spoils were shared by NBC5 and WFAA8. But the Peacock had a clean kill at that hour in the 25-to-54 demographic.

Also Friday, prime-time brought hard times for the local newscasts on TXA21 and "The 33."

TXA21's 8 p.m. hour had "hashmarks" (no measurable audience) in both total viewers and 25-to-54-year-olds, according to Nielsen. The 7 p.m. hour barely did better with 6,643 and 3,035 viewers respectively.

The 33's 9 p.m. news had the same lowly audience as TXA21's 7 p.m. portion.
