Construction for DART Orange Line leaves some traffic lanes closed through August 24

The Texas Department of Transportation is cooperating with DART, allowing multiple lane closures this week for night time construction involving placing girders and columns for the DART Orange Line from Justice Way west along Spur 482 (Storey Lane). Most of the closures will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Girders will be erected for the Harry Hines/I-35E/Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levy on the Storey Lane frontage road. The placement of certain girders will require full closures, so girders are not erected above live traffic. Lane closures will include:

* Tuesday, August 18 -- Full closure of Harry Hines at Northwest Highway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

* Wednesday, August 19 -- Closure of the eastbound exit ramp on Northwest Highway to Harry Hines from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

* Wednesday, August 19 -- The U-turn for Storey Lane and Northwest Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through August 26.

* Thursday, August 20 -- Closure of the eastbound exit ramp on Northwest Highway from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

* Thursday, August 20 -- The Storey Road exit ramp to Harry Hines will be detoured to the shoulder from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

* Friday, August 21 -- The ramp from Harry Hines to eastbound Northwest Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

* Monday, August 24 -- The ramp from Harry Hines to eastbound Northwest Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

TxDOT asks motorists to drive carefully through the work zone. Electronic message boards have been placed up to the site to notify the public of the scheduled closures.

Flaggers and signage will be present to direct traffic.
