New Texas school nutrition policy means no more fried food at lunch

5

The new Texas Public School Nutrition Policy goes into effect on Monday, the first day of school. It's a stricter approach to school lunches which rules out deep-fried foods, sodas, and other empty junk food. French fries will now be baked. Teachers can't use candy as rewards, and students can't hit the vending machines for sodas and candy, although they can bring their own junk food in if they want.

Eh..does that include pizza and french fries? I see more meatloaf and soggy vegetables coming to school cafeterias near you!

I foresee a thriving blackmarket trade in the near future. First aspirin, next, getting suspended for sharing a piece of gum?

Goulash. I suppose was all the leftover veggies, meat and pasta from the previous week all mixed together to save the school money and from wasting food. Or maybe the rats that crawled above the ceiling tiles were finally caught by the school janitor...

"...they can bring their own junk food if they want." The article forgot to add the always-unspoken "...for now."

Mmmmm....baked french fries.
