Hawaiian Falls in Garland to host Wags and Waves
Wags & Waves, the ultimate pool party for people and their pets, will take place Sat., Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hawaiian Falls Waterpark in Garland. The day-long event, presented by the Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC), will give pet owners the chance to say so long to summer as they float down the park’s lazy river or wade in the wave pool with their canine companions by their side.
“Hawaiian Falls has hosted end-of-summer events like this for the past few years, and the response from pet owners is amazing,” said Jonnie England, director of animal advocacy for MAC. “It’s not every day that we get to enjoy an event like this with our dogs. Everyone who comes will have a blast.”
In addition to the various pools and water attractions, other activities at Wags & Waves include live music by The Big Guns, low-cost microchips and ID tags, pet photos, vendors, canine contests for best costume and pet trick, food for purchase and more. Adoptable dogs from area rescue groups and shelters will also be on hand.
Proceeds from Wags & Waves will benefit the Metroplex Animal Coalition’s free spay/neuter program. Member organizations participating in the event are Animal Guardians of America, Cat Matchers, Feral Friends Community Cat Alliance, Legacy Boxer Rescue, and Paws in the City. Presenting sponsors of Wags & Waves are Café Pacific/Jack Knox and Hawaiian Falls Waterpark. Additional sponsorship support is provided by Dogs Rule Resort, K-9 University, Petco, Petite Pooch Chateau, and Urban Animal Magazine.
Admission to Wags & Waves is $20 per person online or at the door. A limited number of covered cabanas for 6 people are available for $150. There is no charge for children under 2 years of age. Those who register in advance online will receive a free event T-shirt.
