Keller man shoots neighbor in fight over dog, bullet also hits man’s wife
KELLER Edward M. Stewart, 49, of Keller got into a fight with a neighbor who was having a fantasy football party on Saturday night and shot the neighbor in the abdomen. It appears that the neighbor was irritated by Stewart's barking dog. Stewart and his neighbor had been arguing over their fence. His neighbor climbed over the fence and out came the gun. After Stewart shot his neighbor, the bullet exited his gut and then hit Stewart's wife in the leg. Does it seem like maybe one of them might want to move to another neighborhood?

It seems as though the assailant's twisted logic in this case would have prompted shooting the barking dog than the neighbor. But I guess he wanted to fight.

Yeah, if my neighbor shot me over my dog barking (although that can be irritating) I would hope that my neighbor's neighborhood would change to a prison.
I'm tellin' ya, sports fanaticism is way out of control in this country.

Castle-lawed his ass! Apparently FWST is undergoing some maintenance atm so I can't read the related article, but sounds like dude already had the gun...unless he's quick enough to run inside, grab it, and mow down the neighbor.
Either way, his castle is damn safe.

TG. Reread the story. It was the man who was shot that was having the fantasy football party. And, it was the wife of the shooter who also got shot.

TX is absolutely correct.
"According to police reports, the victim was having a fantasy football party and the dog had been barking.
The two were at the fence when the suspect told the victim that he would fight him if he climbed over into his backyard, Keller police Lt. Brenda Slovak said Monday. The victim climbed over the fence into the backyard." (Star-Telegram)

I wonder if that constitutes an invitation onto your property.

It's the same little soap-opera stories folks have been living out for centuries. Desperately trying to prove to ourselves that we actually can live among our own kind.

iirc, even if it's construed as an invite, as soon as it's made known you're not wanted you gotta make every attempt to bounce or you can be castle-lawed just the same.
I don't think "if you climb over here I'll kick your ass" is necessarily inviting someone, btw - in fact it sounds more like a warning that he has every intent to harm you if you jump over. Not to mention, who the hell climbs a fence to fight someone because a dog is barking? And why is your gay fantasy football party going on outside?
