An entire festival devoted to the potato sounds like the best food event ever. But don't rule out the Scotch tasting that pairs a 10-year-old malt with a mini-corny dog made from Kobe beef.
The week's top picks:
Thursday
Cheese from Vermont - Wine From Somewhere Else Tasting
Vermont has a fantastic depth and range when it comes to great hand-made cheese. And who doesn't like wine from the region called "somewhere else"? Anywhere else, really. All wine's good is my point.
Charity event from an organization seeking to improve the quality of life for the elderly. But let's get to the snacks: appetizer spread of Lobster Mac & Cheese Balls, Margarita Pizza, Crawfish Quesadillas, and Pork Mini Tacos.
Saturday
Flowers and Pampering Tea Party
Tea party with mimosas, popovers, tarts, and cookies featuring a hands-on class by La Duni florist designer Metka Terselich.
Sunday
Fourth annual event at GermanDeli honors the importance of potatoes, the greatest starch of them all. Food samplings, door prizes, cooking demos, seminars, a "Potato Roll" for the kids, a potato trivia quiz, and a potato cooking contest.
Monday
Mini Kobe beef corny dogs with chipotle mayo ketchup paired with a 10-year-old Highland malt? Nutty. Sevy's gives you five courses paired with premium malt scotches.
