Westbound US 80 at Town East Boulevard near Mesquite to be closed Thursday night
MESQUITE Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is allowing the westbound mainlanes of US 80 at Town East Boulevard to be closed between 10:30 p.m. Thursday, August 27 through 6 a.m. Friday, August 28.
Construction crews will be setting bridge panels as part of the $15.6 million project to replace the Town East bridge over US 80. Ed Bell Construction Company is the prime contractor on the project.
The westbound lanes of US 80 will detoured to the frontage road at the Town East Blvd. exit ramp and the traffic will re-enter US 80 at the Town East Blvd. entrance ramp.
This project began in November of 2008 and is expected to be complete by December of 2010.
All closures are weather permitting. Signs have been placed and portable message boards have been advertising the lane closure at these locations for more than seven days prior. Local police will be on site to assist with the traffic detour.
TxDOT is striving to minimize disruptions for motorists while also working to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve air quality. For more lane closure information: http://www.dot.state.tx.us/travel/road_conditions.htm.
