S.H. 114 at Diamond Interchange to close Sunday, August 30

0

— The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is allowing all east and westbound lanes of State Highway 114 at Loop 12 to be closed from Sunday morning through Monday morning for demolition of the Loop 12 southbound mainlane bridge over S.H. 114.

The lanes will close at 6 a.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 and re-open by 6 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009. Traffic will be diverted off of the highway onto the frontage roads in both directions and will be able to re-enter the highway at the next entrance.

Zachary Construction Corp and Mario Sinocola and Sons are partners in the construction of the $224 million project to construct the first phase of the Diamond Interchange between Loop 12 and S.H. 114 around Texas Stadium. The project is expected to be complete by the summer of 2012.

This bridge work is being done at the time of week with the lowest traffic volumes in this area and prior to the Labor Day Holiday weekend in order to inconvenience the traveling public as little as possible.

All closures are weather permitting.

TxDOT is striving to minimize disruptions for Irving citizens while also working to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve air quality. For more lane closure information, go here.
