Oso Closo CD Release -- Friday, Sept. 4 at Hailey's
Oso Closo is set to release their brand new album this Friday night at Hailey's Club. Today is Beauty's Birthday has been one of the most anticipated albums ever since the band announced that they would be releasing a new CD sometime on 2009. Well, the wait is over, and this Friday we finally get our hands on some new Oso Closo stuff.
The hope is that the new album will not only further solidify the band as one of Denton's best, but also propel them into the the national limelight. If early buzz is any indication, Today is Beauty's Birthday certainly has that potential.
Come hang out on Friday night and judge for yourself. Also playing is Backside Pick and Fatty Lumpkin.
Grassfight -- Saturday Sept. 5 at The Boiler Room
The spacey rock sounds of Grassfight will be headlining on Saturday night at The Boiler Room. It may seem a bit in contrast to the dirty alt blues style of RTB2, who is also playing that night, but I have no doubt the two will make it work just fine.
If you have not heard Grassfight, please do. They are not my favorite band by any means, but there is something about the group that strikes me as very endearing. Maybe is the serenity that seems to pour from the speakers, or the unexpectedness of their sound all together. Whatever it is, Grassfight does it well.
