Texas State Senator Dan Branch considering running for Attorney General

Branch is the third Republican considering the race if incumbent Greg Abbott ultimately opts for another race.

State Rep. Dan Branch (R-Dallas) is considering a run for Texas Attorney General if incumbent AG Greg Abbott ultimately opts for another race.

Via Texas Lawyer:

Branch, R-Dallas, is another potential candidate. Now in his fourth term in the Texas House, Branch says he is taking “a very serious look” at the 2010 AG’s race.

Branch, a shareholder in Winstead’s Dallas office, says people around the state have encouraged him to run for AG. But Branch says he won’t mount a campaign if Abbott decides to seek re-election.

Branch is the third Republican considering the race. Congressman Mike McCaul and former Solicitor General Ted Cruz have also expressed interest in running if Abbott opts to run for Lieutenant Governor or U.S. Senate.
