Carrollton police looking for suspects in Crosby Creek Apartments homicide

On Saturday January 10, 2009, at approximately 10:14 AM, Hilario Velazquez was robbed and shot to death by two unknown suspects outside of his apartment at the Crosby Creek Apartments (1300 E Crosby Rd.). The two suspects waited for Velazquez to emerge from his apartment, then approached him and attempted to rob him. During the confrontation, one of the suspects shot Velazquez in the chest. The suspects removed an unknown quantity of cash from Velazquez. The suspects then ran to Crosby Rd. and got into what has been described as a red Ford Expedition (possibly 2003-2004), with aftermarket chrome rims and a white semicircular decal on the rear window (actual suspect vehicle shown above). The suspect vehicle fled eastbound on Crosby Rd.

Investigation has revealed that the suspects followed Velazquez to his apartment from the Bank of America located at 1101 S. Josey Ln., where Velazquez had just cashed his paycheck. The two suspects that attacked Velazquez were described as possibly Hispanic males in their late teens or early twenties. One suspect was described as wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with “Adidas style” black stripes, dark denim jeans and white athletic shoes. The other suspect was said to be wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white shoes. Witness descriptions indicate that the weapon used was possibly a stainless steel semi-automatic handgun.
