Elliott’s Hardware offers George W. Bush Greeter Position
DALLAS Local independent retailer Elliott's Hardware appealed to former President George W. Bush to spend his newfound retirement working as a part-time greeter at its Maple Avenue store in Dallas. In addition to mailing the invitation letter directly to Mr. Bush, the company also posted the opportunity in an ad that ran in the Thursday, February 5 edition of The Dallas Morning News (page 7B).
"Our greeters are a legendary part of our customer service," said Kyle Walters, Elliott's Hardware president & CEO. "And we are offering the position to Mr. Bush in all sincerity. We think it would be a great fit for him as he settles back into life in Dallas."
Among the job perks listed in the letter are:
* A flexible part-time schedule (to allow travel to Crawford)
* An opportunity to keep up on his people skills
* A seven-mile commute between the store and his new home
* Ample parking (including space for his security detail)
* Employee discount (for any projects Mrs. Bush may have on the "Honey-Do" list)
Elliott's highlighted Mr. Bush's familiarity with working in a family-owned business and the low-stress of the position as additional benefits. The company also said it would be willing to let Mr. Bush try out the position for a day to see how he likes it before committing.
The complete greeter letter can be read online. Elliott's Hardware is a local, family-owned, independent hardware store that has been in business in North Texas since 1947.

Ok, I truly love Elliott's... but it's mostly because they hire far more useful people at the front door.

People have Elliott's on their minds with this press, and it's press, good or bad.
Great publicity, whether sincere or not!!!
Of COURSE they don't expect Mr. Bush to take the job...anyone who thinks that they do or that he WOULD is the idiot! Please!
And just move on, will ya?
