If you're a student, one day of canceled classes for a water main break is lucky. Two days in a row is downright glorious. But for district officials, repairmen, and parents, it's no doubt a bit of a nightmare. On Tuesday, all classes at Grapevine High School will be canceled, including a number of indoor extra-curricular events. See the official word from the school below:
Classes at Grapevine High School have been canceled for Tuesday, Feb. 10, due to continuing repairs following a water main break under the school. Classes at all other GCISD schools, including Colleyville Heritage High School, will be in session as scheduled. All Monday and Tuesday evening activities located at the main GHS campus remain cancelled. Use of Gym 2 is doubtful is doubtful for at least the remainder of the week, and use of Gyms 3 and 4 will be limited. Soccer games scheduled for Monday evening at Mustang-Panther Stadium will continue as planned.
Clean-up and repairs are underway at Grapevine High School. Power and water still have to be restored and essential repairs must be made before students and staff can return to school. Students and staff should remain out of the building until further notice.
District officials will continue to monitor the situation. No decision has been made regarding classes for Wednesday at GHS. Thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this unforeseen inconvenience. Please watch for further updates in GCISD FastNews and on the GHS and District websites.
UPDATE: All good things must come to an end. Sorry, kids.

From GCISD:
Classes at GHS are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, February 11. The areas affected by the water main break will be blocked from student and staff access to minimize traffic in the areas and speed the repair and restoration process. All affected programs, including Band, Choir and Academy classrooms, will be relocated to other parts of the building. Students will follow the B-day schedule. Student and staff should remain out of the building until Wednesday morning.
Work to repair and restore GHS following a water main break under the school continues on Tuesday. Power and water have been restored, and essential repairs are being made today. All electrical systems have been tested, and all life safety systems are operational throughout the building.
Gym 2 and Gym 3 will be closed for repairs until further notice. Use of Gym 4 will remain limited. Individual coaches and sponsors will communicate with students regarding upcoming activities. Tuesday evening activities remain cancelled at GHS. School officials are working to reschedule the eighth-grade Parent Night that was cancelled Monday. The GHS cheerleader tryout meeting scheduled for tonight has been moved to Cross Timbers Middle School, 7 p.m. in the Student Activities Center.
District officials plan to apply to the Texas Education Agency for a waiver regarding the missed days. Based on TEA policy, we do not anticipate having to makeup the days.
Repairs and restoration will continue throughout the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to prepare the affected areas for student and staff use.
