To celebrate the release of the new movie Fired Up, Sony Pictures, MTV and KHKS-FM are giving Dallas something to cheer and vote about! Cheerleaders from South Oak Cliff High School rose to the challenge to represent Dallas-Fort Worth in the Fired Up Cheerleading Challenge. Online voting for the national competition begins today, February 10, 2009 at 2:00pm CST at www.firedup.mtv.com.

The public is encouraged to visit www.firedup.mtv.com, where you are able to view performances from teams in 24 markets from across the country. Dallas-Forth Worth is encouraged to vote daily to support South Oak Cliff High School. The online contest runs from February 10th - February 16th, 2009. The winning team with the most online votes will be awarded $5,000 on behalf of Sony Pictures’ Fired Up.

On January 31, 2009, South Oak Cliff High School participated in Phase One of the Fired Up Cheerleading Challenge, winning $300 for their squad. The team performed a one minute routine, incorporating the phrase “Fired Up.” The contest took place at Kidd Springs Park Recreation Center. Oak Cliff Tribune Arts and Entertainment Editor Jo Ann Holt and popular 106.1 KISS-FM on-air personality, Junior, acted as judges for the contest.
