Argyle High School academic teams excel in competitions
Members of Argyle High School's calculus team traveled to the University of Texas at Arlington last Friday for the 9th Annual Calculus Bowl to compete with 24 of the best academic private and public schools in North Texas.
In the final round, Argyle ended up in a tie with Martin High School in Arlington. In the sudden death overtime, both teams worked the problem correctly, but Arlington Martin found the correct answer quicker, which gave them a 42-41 win over Argyle.
Argyle's calculus team include seniors Thomas Quintana, Tyler Kass, Aaron Kline and Alex McKellar, as well as sophomore Nick Strelke.
On Saturday, Argyle High School took a large group of students to the annual UIL Academic Meet at Denton Ryan High School and placed first in the sweepstakes competition, with 361 points. Students placed in almost every event, according to Cliff McCurdy, UIL Coordinator.
