John Paul II High School Cardinal Belles sweep the American Dance & Drill competition

In keeping with a winning tradition, the John Paul II High School Cardinal Belles celebrate a sweeping victory in the small team and officer divisions during the American Dance and Drill Team North Texas Regional Competition Saturday, February 7 at Rockwall-Heath High School. The Cardinal Belles won their entire division being named Best in Class for the small team division as well as Best in Class for the officer’s division.

As a group, the Cardinal Belles brought home Best In Class, Judges awards for team jazz and military. JPII also walked away with the Sweepstakes and Gussie Nell Davis awards for scoring 90 and above in all routines as well as Best Overall Presentation.

The JPIIHS Cardinal Belle officers brought home Best in Class, Judges awards for modern and hip hop. They were the only officer team to receive the Judges Award for hip hop. They also received the Sweepstakes and Gussie Nell Davis awards for scoring 90 and above in all routines and Best Overall Presentation and Precision.

The duet by JPII Senior, Laurie Bell, and Junior, Bridget Ritzman won first place in their division. In addition to their team and officer awards, it is worth noting that all nine soloists received Division I scores and that JPII had the top 4 finalists within their division. JPII sophomore Haley Moninger, placed third, sophomore and Lt. Brittany Siwald placed second and senior Laura Taylor and Cardinal Belle Team Captain and JPII senior, Teresa Sinacola, tied for first.

The JPII Cardinal Belles take little time to rest and celebrate their current victories as they prepare to compete nationally on March 7, 2009.
