TECH Fort Worth has accepted BAP Image Systems (BAPis) as an Acceleration client and will provide consulting and development assistance as the German company expands its imaging business in the United States.

TECH Fort Worth is a nonprofit business incubator that helps companies commercialize their technologies, with particular emphasis on technologies that have a potentially major impact in the areas of the environment, health and community.

BAPis, which has its headquarters in Erlangen, Germany and a research operation in Poland, develops and manufactures very high-speed cameras for scanners and other technical uses. The cameras are capable of processing and transmitting up to 1,000 documents per minute. The company also develops and produces image processing boards that trigger other actions based on images from the camera. Already, BAPis has a large customer base in the US and plans to use its offices in TECH Fort Worth’s facility to service its existing US clients, expand its customer base and develop new uses for its technologies.

“BAPis has been in business in Europe for more than 10 years, but its future growth will be primarily in the U.S.,” said Dr. Peter Bonk, founder and CEO of BAPis. “We chose Fort Worth because of its central location and the opportunity to work with TECH Fort Worth to help us quickly learn the nuances of operating in this country.”

Darlene Ryan, Executive Director of TECH Fort Worth, said, “We are excited to have Dr. Bonk and his team join our business community. As one of our Acceleration clients, he has already begun to access our network of service providers and advisers, to take advantage of the information technology infrastructure and market research capabilities available to our clients, and to look for ways to collaborate with our other clients.”

TECH Fort Worth is a nonprofit technology incubator, with offices at the James E. Guinn Complex in Fort Worth South and at the UNT Health Science Center’s Center for BioHealth. For more information, call Darlene Ryan, Executive Director, at (817) 339 8968, email her at Darlene@techfortworth.org or go to www.techfortworth.org.
