Susan Plonka, a Plano business owner for 25 years, has announced her candidacy for Plano City Council, Place 2. Scott Johnson, who currently holds Place 2, will not seek reelection due to term limits.

Although Plonka was encouraged by many business colleagues and friends, it was State Representative Brian McCall who helped her make the decision to run.

“I want to work for the citizens of Plano by ensuring the best city services at the lowest possible cost,” Plonka said. “Plano is the best place to live, and we can make it better.”

Because of her father’s service in the Air Force, Plonka lived in many places growing up. More than 20 years ago, she chose to make her home in Plano and have her kids educated in the Plano school system. She believed that Texas was the “land of opportunity” and that Plano was an exemplary city within the state.

Many people in Plano have worked hard on boards, commissions and the council to layout a master plan that affords its citizens the high quality of life enjoyed today. Plonka looks to continue that heritage to make Plano even better.

“Having managed projects, customers and employees as a profitable business executive, Susan has the qualifications required to provide a fresh look to Plano,” said former City Councilman Shep Stahel. “She has proven community service and is not afraid to ask the tough questions.”

Her company, Plonka Interactive, is an award winning design agency providing marketing and web software development in the Dallas Fort Worth Area to clients that include Fedex Kinkos, Nike Golf, Texas Capital Bank and Primacare.

Not only has Plonka completed six years of service on the City of Plano’s Parks and Recreation board, but also she served as Chairman. After years as an active member with perfect attendance, she currently serves as the Community Service Chairman of the Plano Metro Rotary. Plonka is a member of Plano Chamber of Commerce and graduated from Leadership Plano Class 22. Her company donates the ongoing website LeadershipPlanoDirectory.org

Plonka has served as President of her Plano Homeowner Association, Preston View, and Plano West Senior High Booster Club for Cross Country and Track.

She is happily married to John Lindell for 11 years.

Plonka is endorsed for Plano City Council by a former mayor and several former city council members.

Plonka invites you to join her campaign kick-off, which will be held at the Granite III (Plano’s tallest building) on March 12, from 5:30 to 7 pm.
