Legacy of Success Foundation brings the Cotton Club experience to Dallas

The Legacy of Success Foundation is hosting its annual African-American LGBT & Affirming Allies weekend event called Heritage Celebration, taking place at various venues between Thursday, February 19 to Sunday, February 22. The weekend’s key event is the black tie event dubbed, “Heritage Celebration Goes Cotton Club” and held on Saturday evening from 8pm to 10pm at the Cityplace Conference Center - Lakewood Ballroom in Downtown Dallas. This year’s host of the black tie event will be Gary with the “T” from the Rickey Smiley Morning Show.

You can catch the date and time of each event of the Heritage Celebration, plus all the other happenings going on this weekend (and there are plenty!) at the community calendar.

The Cotton Club, a great movie from the 1980s, while Francis Ford Copploa, made such an impact with his film..themes realized from the Underworld Gangsters, such as Dutch Shultz, and later to usher the Dutch out,.. Lawerence Fishburn an Africian Amercian, who played another kind of figure head, walk into the club to create his own place,as they often said no colored allowed......

The film is in essence how the class of Immigrants and New York folks, came to life in such a great film..while today more events to follow continue the essence of such a cultural highlight...Their is somthing to be said about films and their leagacy to create other meanings into the future....A/T,...Film Historian.
