Richland College to host photographer Keith Carter
Richland College presents a lecture and image presentation by photographer Keith Carter at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27. The event will be held in Richland’s Arena Theater (Room F108 of Fannin Hall).
Works by Mr. Carter, an internationally recognized photographer and educator, have appeared in many museum collections including the Dallas Museum of Art, The Amon Carter Museum, the Menil Collection, The Getty Museum and the Art Institute in Chicago.
He holds the endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University Beaumont, Texas. He is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Arts Regional Survey Grants and the Lange-Taylor Prize from The Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
In 1997, Keith Carter was the subject of an arts profile on CBS Sunday Morning. In 1998, he received Lamar University’s highest teaching honor, the University Professor Award, and he was named the Lamar University Distinguished Lecturer.
Mr. Carter’s presentation at Richland College is in conjunction with an exhibition at the Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery entitled, “Keith Carter: A Certain Alchemy.” The exhibit will run from Feb. 28 to April 25.
