Fort Worth to try to slow down the spread of McMansions
Well, here's something that would never fly in Highland Park: The Fort Worth City Council is considering a proposal that would create so-called "conservation districts" so that any new homes built in that area would have to be on par with already existing homes. In other words, no more building of those ghastly McMansions.
A conservation district is different from a historical district in that you could still tear down an old house and build a new one, but you would be limited in the size of the home you could build, among other things. However, the city would not designate the districts; instead, individual neighborhoods would vote on whether to give themselves the designation.
