Video: Pegnews film guys in Oscar preview mode
Alex and John pick their favorites from among this year's Academy Award nominees. And it isn't pretty. (At least, they aren't.)
Pegasus News Oscar preview, part the first
In which Alex and John sit down to discuss their prognostications for the forthcoming awards ceremony.
Alex and I sat down at the office Tuesday morning (Feb. 17) and shared our thoughts about the nominees for this year's Academy Awards.
Amazingly, we carried on for a good twenty minutes - and this after we'd agreed to forgo discussion of the more esoteric categories, such as set design, costuming, makeup and sound mixing.
('Course, our combined knowledge of those filmmaking areas would not have taken up more than a couple additional minutes of talk time - speaking purely for myself - JM.)
Pegasus News Oscar preview, part deux
Alex and John's discussion concludes with the REALLY BIG categories.
There's a glitch in the middle of the first recorded segment which I'm told must have had something to do with someone's cell phone doing its transmitting and/or receiving thing in the vicinity of the videocam - please excuse it, and I hope to God I wasn't saying something particularly cogent or amusing at the time. (Probably not.)
For the benefit of those who haven't kept up with our published reviews over the past year, here is a list of the nominees under discussion, linked to our original reviews (or, in the case of individuals, to our interviews with them). The links will only show up at the first mention of the film (or person).
You will note that the order in which we discuss the categories on camera is reversed from the order in which they are presented here - the better to build up to a big and exciting finish. (In theory.)

I like the gun in the waistband thing. It's like "If you don't pick who I picked...I'll just shoot you!" Nice.

It's all about my "shoot from the hip" (or in this case waistband) approach to the review process, captain.

I liked this video thing you guys are doing, I can listen while I work. Although, I have grown so used to audience participation...Maybe you could have people hurling insults at you from the background next time?

jtmbls, our intent is to do a lot more of this video commentary thing, and to solicit outside involvement as you suggest (sort of). I'm even thinking guest reviewers as we get into it.

Perhaps you'd care to join us next time?
