Don’t be burning trash outdoors today, say county officials, weathermen
As you can see from the National Weather Service graphic, the entire North Texas area is under a cloud of sorts - but not the kind that brings anyone any of that much-needed precipitation we've been lacking for so long.
And hopefully the cloud will remain a metaphorical one, serving the strictly figurative purpose of describing the Red Flag Alert that results from conditions of dangerously low humidity and high winds. Which combine to drastically increase the danger of fires.
Areas west of I-35 are the subject of particular concern to firefighters and public safety officials, although the danger of grass fires will be increasing to the east this afternoon.
Bottom line: don't be burning your trash or flipping your cigarette butts out in the back yard. (Or the front one, for that matter.)
